FLORIDA LAWS

Penalty for horse theft is death by hanging.
It is considered an offense to shower naked.
You are not allowed to break more than three dishes per day, or chip the edges of more than four cups and/or saucers.
It is illegal to block any traveled wagon road.
Women may be fined for falling asleep under a hair dryer, as can the salon owner.
If an elephant is left tied to a parking meter, the parking fee has to be paid just as it would for a vehicle.
It is illegal to sing in a public place while attired in a swimsuit.
You may not fart in a public place after 6 P.M. on Thursdays.
Men may not be seen publicly in any kind of strapless gown.
It is illegal to skateboard without a license.
A special law prohibits unmarried women from parachuting on Sunday or she shall risk arrest, fine, and/or jailing.
Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal.

Big Pine Key
It is illegal to molest a Key deer. If caught one will be fined or will have to go to jail.

Cape Coral
It is against the city ordinance to hang your clothes outside on a clothesline.
It it illegal to park a pick-up truck in your driveway or in front of your house on the street. This law is limited to only those who do not own the house. (Repealed 2000)

Daytona Beach
Sec. 10-56. While intoxicated, under influence of narcotics, prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to swim or bathe in that portion of the Atlantic Ocean within the corporate limits of the city when under the influence of intoxicating liquor or narcotic drugs to the extent that his or her normal faculties are impaired. (Code 1955, ? 28-64)

Sec. 18-2. Weeds, trash, etc., as a public nuisance; removal by property owner or by city at owner’s expense; notice and hearing; lien for expenses. (a) The existence of weeds, trash, undergrowth, brush, filth, garbage or other refuse on any lot, tract or parcel of land within the city which has caused the property to become, or which may reasonably cause the property to become infested, or inhabited by rodents, vermin or wild animals, or may furnish a breeding place for mosquitoes or threatens the public health, safety or welfare, or may reasonably cause disease or adversely affects and impairs the economic welfare of the adjacent property, is declared to constitute a public nuisance and is hereby prohibited.

Sec. 22-44. Storage, depositing prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person, either as owner, occupant, lessee, agent, tenant, or otherwise, to store or deposit, or cause or permit to be stored or deposited, any abandoned, junked or discarded motor vehicle or motor vehicles upon any public or private property within the city. (Code 1955, ? 20-11)

The molestation of trash cans is banned.

Hialeah
Ambling and strolling is a misdemeanor.

Sec. 3-1. Bird sanctuary declared. (a) It is hereby declared that all territory embraced within the corporate limits of the municipality shall be a bird sanctuary. (b) It shall be unlawful for any person within the municipality to shoot, trap or in any manner kill, wound or maim any bird of any kind, or at any time to throw at any birds of any kind any missile with slingshots or any other weapon, or to disturb their eggs or their young or their nests. (Ord. No. 8-59, ?? 1, 2, 8-10-59)

Chickens are considered a ‘protected species’.

Miami
Sec. 8-3. Bell or other warning device. No person shall operate a bicycle unless it is equipped with a bell or device capable of giving a signal audible for a distance of at least 100 feet, but no bicycle shall be equipped with, nor shall any person use upon a bicycle, any siren or whistle. (Code 1967, ? 8-3; Code 1980, ? 8-3)
It is illegal for men to be seen publicly in any kind of strapless gown.

Pensacola
A women can be fined (only after death), for being electrocuted in a bath-tub because of using self-beautification utensils.
It is illegal to roll a barrel on any street, fines go up according to the contents of the barrel.
Citizens may not be caught downtown without at least 10 dollars on their person.

Pinecrest
In order to operate a burglar alarm, a permit must be obtained. Sec. 12-23. Registration required; application; transferability; false statements. (a)All persons must complete and submit to the village an emergency contact registration form for their alarm if they operate or cause to be operated an alarm system in the village. A separate registration is required for each alarm system. Upon receipt of a completed registration form, the police department shall issue a numbered alarm sticker to the applicant to facilitate retrieval of registration information. (Ord. No. 97-17, ? 1, 10-14-97)

Sanford

Stage nudity is banned, with the exception of “bona fide” theatrical performances. Violating this ordinance results in a $100 fine.

Sarasota
You may not catch crabs.
If you hit a pedestrian you are fined $78.00.

Tampa Bay
It is illegal to eat cottage cheese on Sunday after 6:00 P.M.

September's Cover of Magic Magazine

Hopefully this doesn’t mean an end to his career and just the beginning of another chapter in his magical life.  Talking with residents of Las Vegas, Lance Burton is more than just an entertainer, he is an a social icon of the city by always helping locally in many ways.

I am looking forward to see what this Magic Great pursues next and reading the article.  The local Vegas paper reported that Lance wouldn’t reveal his plans, but they do involve a fly rod and a frying pan.  Sounds like our buddy needs a little Rest & Relaxation.

Release of the Doves

Is there anything that Lance does that doesn’t look magical?  I saw a commercial he did once about adopting animals and his mannerisms alone just made you think a tiger was going to appear out of thin air!  We love ya Lance and hope your vacation won’t be for long.

As we aspire to be a great magician, it is  legends like this that we must study. Not just because of the trick itself, but mainly one must understand that these are great entertainers and this is what continually draws the crowds every night.  Learn this secret and you too can be very successful.

Most people don’t realize that, when talking to a true professional entertainer, this question can be as vague as someone calling a local garage and asking how much it would be to fix their car that won’t run. There are different types of preparation, costs that are involved, and planning that must be done before every different type of show.  Therefore, here is some information to think about before you start your search for that perfect entertainer.

Most people I talk to really have no idea what to expect, but with some key information, together we can create a perfect event for their special occasion.  First of all, how many people will be attending your event?  Believe it or not, it makes a huge difference and this number will help develop what type of show would be best.  For instance, let’s say you are expecting 500 people, there is a cocktail hour before dinner and then time for a show afterwords.  It may be best to have close up magic during the cocktail hour so the crowd will be encouraged to stick around after eating for the entertainment.  Most laymen refer to this as David Blaine magic because of the familiarity of it on TV.

Next, would be the time.  Most kids magic shows are best to kept at 30 to 45 minutes, depending on age, because of attention span and restlessness.   Don’t be afraid to add some balloon twisting after a show, because this is something they can enjoy without sitting still!   After a family event, when time allows, I’m often asked to add this on as a last minute thought because parents have not thought what they were going to do with all these children in their home!

Finally, and probably least important is the price.  Prices will always vary depending on the entertainer, so ask for references.  In most cases, “you get what you pay for” couldn’t be more true.  I post my references from a source that checks who is sending in that particular testimonial.  Recently, I began video taping them to add even more validity.

Now, to answer the question…Magic Tricks or Magical Entertainment?

While reading my Testimonials, you will notice that everyone of them mention something about how well they were entertained and never mention that all I did was trick them.  This is the biggest compliment I could ever receive.  After all, I am a Magical Entertainer and with my comedic style, it is impossible to leave without a smile on your face.  Everyone wants to be entertained and that is my ultimate goal.

Then name says it…Vynn Credible!

Kimley-Horn & Associates has been named by FORTUNE Magazine as one of it’s 100 Best Companies to work for and that was easy to see why from all the great people I got to meet this afternoon before, during and after the show.  We were all having so much fun that I didn’t want to do my closing act, however I am glad that I did.  I say this because everyone was laughing so hard that they were almost crying!

This company has a monthly fun event for the employees and I look forward to the next time they ask me to come and entertain.  I was also very impressed with the complex that they had designed and work in. Luckily, I was given a tour of this huge building and got to see this “Green” building and all of it’s cool features, including the flower garden on the roof!

Once again, I had a lot of fun performing for a 5 year old’s birthday party.  Twisting balloons in all kinds of shapes and sizes and as always, someone requests the easiest balloon ever…the worm.  Seriously kid…a worm? Do you want it twirled up like a snake ready to strike? How about in the shape of something, like a heart?

“Nope.”  He says, “Just blow up the balloon and put a knot in it. That’s what I want.”

Well, I gave him what he wanted and he took off running excited as ever when I handed it to him.  This is a great lesson that I should have remembered from my mentor.  It’s not what you want that is important, it’s what makes the audience happy and entertains them that you should do.

However, after a half dozen swords I tried to get the boys to be a little more creative and showed them some more balloon shape options and then they were excited to chase each other around with bumble bees, sharks and a parrot on their head!

Timing is everything, make sure that the “bringer of the cake and ice cream” understands to wait until after the show or (mental note for next time) start the show after the cake and ice cream have been served.  This a golden nugget for any new magician starting out, so take note!

Birthday party Magicians are a lot of fun and I encourage parents to try out a good one (like me!).

Restaurants do not allow live animals.  This is the only down side that I have come across so far.  Therefore, if you would like my magic show with the live rabbit, then it must be done somewhere else, like your home.

Thompson Elementary School

Vynn Credible in Las Vegas performing magic at Thompson Elementary School.  What a great bunch of kids!  I got scooted around the school, performing for 3 different grade levels and having fun with kids, as well as getting a chance to do some close up and street magic tricks for the staff and office workers between shows.  There are more to magic shows than just balloon twisting and birthday parties and today I was about to prove that as I brought my style of comedy entertainment to my audience in the Magic Capital of the World, Las Vegas.

Everyone wanted to experience the Magic of Vynn Credible

The teachers all wanted a chance to experience the wonderment and excitement of the magic as I strolled about the school whipping everyone into the frenzy of a magic show. Cards, coins, GIANT cards and other props were used to make the kids laugh, shout and clap.

I look forward to my next trip to Vegas to revisit with all my new friends, to see how they have grown (the children) and if they (the teachers and staff) are ready to let go of reality for a moment and enjoy another magical escape.

Today I had a lot of fun meeting new people and twisting balloons for the local residents of Melbourne, Florida who were looking to have some fun at the Family Fun Day sponsored by RBC Bank.  The DJ did a great job promoting the different booths that were set up today including my own.  We even had an opportunity where I was able to draw a crowd for some close up street magic that, according to the DJ, made him feel like a kid again because he couldn’t believe what he was seeing!

That’s all part of the Vynn Credible experience!

It’s not everyday that you get a 900 square foot Green Room fully stocked with every beverage you could ever wish for among other perks, but then again, it’s not everyday that you get to perform at the Ritz-Carlton.  Last month I got the honor of performing for the Georgia Health Care Association here on Amelia Island and met many wonderful people.  I went on stage after dinner for a crowd of over 500 and had a blast with the members of the audience during this comedy magic show.

Before hand, they had a cocktail hour that allowed me time to hop from group to group and perform some close up magic for many that were enjoying the “spirits” of the evening.  It’s funny when people tell you their favorite magician story.  Like the time this magician made them believe that the card they were holding was the one they originally picked, but then it changed.

Yeah, that one gets me all the time!
